Ron,
Here are a couple of photos from our hog hunt on 2/18.
Lot's of
fun. When we saw a couple of hogs across a pasture at about 250
yards, the guide asked me if I wanted to try a shot. Since I was
using a new Savage 12FVSS .308, and it was perfect for this distance,
I said heck yeah. You could see the sandy soil fly on the other
side of the hog when the bullet hit, so the other guys thought
I hit a little high. The hog trotted about 25 yards and then fell
over, so they had to retract their comments.
My friend's
son shot his at about 100 yards with Browning BLR .243. It was
a good shot for a first-timer, hitting the hog low and just behind
the shoulder. Unfortunately, it didn't drop on the spot, so we
tracked it to some bushes where he finished it with a follow up
shot to the head. I was glad for him since this was his first
hunt where he took an animal. His dad said they were going to
have a pork BBQ that night.
Thanks again,
Shawn McElroy
